Cherie Medway

After studying art at Albury High School and not feeling I had done very well, I ended up pursuing other creative outlets and enjoyed a wonderful music career performing regularly and producing a CD of 13 original songs. After moving to Melbourne for family commitments I started to feel depressed and realised I was in desperate need of a creative outlet so I decided to try my hand at painting again. Truthfully I haven’t stopped since.

I think creativity is this beautiful freeing adventure if you learn to get out of its way and just let it happen. I now use Acrylics, Oils, Watercolours and Pastels in an endless pursuit of experimentation and allowing the process. Art makes me look at the World differently. It makes me want to capture moments and emotions, convey meaning and inspire. I feel every painting has its own journey and I am just the lucky person who gets to facilitate their manifestations. It’s a joy and a privilege and I am always as equally surprised as anyone else when I get to stand back and see what has made its way onto the surface.
