I am a digital macro photographer, that is, I capture images of life up close.
I am inspired by the colours, patterns, shapes and complexity of nature. 

The multiple shades of tree bark, the spirals on a cauliflower head, the beauty of insects, or the intricacies of an orchid flower, all capture my eye. 

I have been taking photographs for almost 50 years and I am basically self taught apart from a couple of short courses over the years. I use a 90 mm macro lens (mostly) with a flash. This enables me to take images hand held (without a tripod) as I walk through the bush.

I promote my work through selling prints at markets, instagram (johnnaimocloseup) and recently through a joint exhibition with Vivien Naimo at Gallery 294, Corowa.
