An Exploration of Colour and Pattern

I’m drawn to pattern and colour in painting. Pattern has been burdened with a poor reputation through the history of C20th Modernism mainly because many critics and other artists perceived it as frivolous, domestic, feminine and not a serious art pursuit. This is despite that much of C20th abstraction had no subject but the movement or colour of intersections of marks that could be read as patterns. The difference is they were done by blokes.
