by LIONEL WARD
22 March to 16 April
OFFICIAL OPENING: Saturday 26 March, 4–6pm
My Travelling Palette is a visual artist’s journey of places and people that are a personal experience from Lionel’s travels overseas and locally. Zimbabwe, Venice, Florence Italy and the local area of Albury/Wodonga all feature in this exhibition. His art work is a combination of sketchbook drawings, notes and photos that captured his eye when adventuring around the globe with his darling wife.
Lionel Ward has been a local of Albury/Wodonga for most of his life. He spent his youth growing up in The foothills of the Snowy Mountains, Corryong. He still has a special spot for that community and the people in it. Since he was small he has always been drawing and found Art to become one of his passions and an enjoyable past time. Over the past 15 years he has refined his skills in watercolour and oils. His influences include Rembrandt, Charles Sluga, John Wilson and Alvero Castagnet.
Along with a Bachelor of Arts he has completed Graduate studies in trauma counselling and used art as a major focus of studies with young disabled adults and children. He is also a skilled musician who dabbles in the art of guitar.
Lionel hopes that the viewer will experience the joy, passion and hope that each painting is wanting to reveal and bring about an air of positive possibilities in this beautiful world, despite the current climate.
